Vaslui County is situated in the northeastern part of Romania and covers 5,318 sq. km.
It has a population of 464,000 inhabitants.
It is crossed by the Prut (which also represents the natural border between Vaslui and the Republic of Moldova) and Barlad Rivers
and their tributaries.
There are four main towns in Vaslui County: Vaslui, Barlad, Husi, and Negresti, of which Vaslui city is the county capital.
The main activity is agriculture, and it includes raising livestock and the cultivation of vineyards and orchards.
Industry is not well developed and the rate of unemployment is high.
The majority of the population is poor.
